MACON, Ga., August 5, 2008 – Shawn Burklin has been named regional vice president of GEICO with responsibilities for Southeast operations, headquartered at the company's Macon, Ga., regional office. Before assuming his current position, Burklin served as vice president of GEICO's claims home office operations located at company headquarters in Washington, D.C.
"I'm looking forward to joining the Macon team and working with them to further strengthen the Macon regional office," Burklin said of his new opportunity.
Burklin began his GEICO career in 1995 in the claims department in the company's Fredericksburg, Va. regional office. Soon afterward, he entered the company's management intern program, and in 1997, Burklin was promoted to a position as a claims attorney in claims home office. Three years later, he was promoted to the senior claims attorney position.
Burklin went on to serve as assistant vice president of claims for GEICO's Lakeland, Fla., regional office before being named vice president of corporate claims in 2007.
He holds an undergraduate degree from Eckerd College in Florida and earned a juris doctor degree, with honors, from the University of Florida.
