FREDERICKSBURG, Va., August 5, 2008 – John Izzo has been named regional vice president of GEICO with responsibilities for Middle Atlantic regional operations based in Fredericksburg, Va. Before assuming his current position, Izzo served as regional vice president of GEICO's Southeast operations located at the company's regional office in Macon, Ga., since 2005.
"I'm excited about the new challenges ahead and look forward to returning to the Fredericksburg regional office," Izzo said. He served previously as regional vice president there from 2001 to 2005, before leaving for Macon to reorganize its operations.
Izzo joined GEICO in 1974 as a claims examiner and held positions of increasing responsibility within the claims department before entering the executive assistant program in 1988. Prior to becoming an officer in 1993, he was branch manager of the Fredericksburg office, and in 1996, Izzo was appointed assistant vice president of GEICO with general management responsibilities for GEICO's property insurance center.
Izzo later advanced as assistant vice president of underwriting and managed the Virginia Beach service center before becoming regional vice president in 2001.
He holds a bachelor's degree from Queens College in New York, and an M.B.A. in human resources from C.W. Post University in New York.
